Terms of Use & Data Protection Notice

Last updated 5 August 2026

1. What Freefield is

Freefield is a price-comparison marketplace for bulk and wholesale products. We display seller-submitted prices, store details, and contact information so buyers can find the cheapest nearby seller of a given item. Freefield is a discovery layer only — we are not a party to any transaction between a buyer and a seller. We do not sell products, hold funds, or guarantee any price, availability, quality, or transaction outcome. Payment and delivery are agreed directly between buyer and seller.

2. Seller accounts

To list on Freefield, sellers sign up with a phone number, verified by a one-time SMS code. By creating a seller account, you confirm that:

  • You are authorized to represent the store or business you list under.
  • The store name, location, and prices you provide are accurate and kept up to date.
  • Your phone number is one you can be reached on — buyers will use it to contact you directly, by phone call or WhatsApp.

3. What data we collect and why

DataWhy we collect it
Phone numberTo verify your identity by SMS code, let you log in, and let buyers contact you directly
Store name & locationDisplayed publicly so buyers can find and compare your listings
Listings (product, price, delivery)The core of the service — shown to buyers
Verification request & payment referenceTo process your optional paid verification and confirm payment
Contact-tap & search recordsAnonymous, aggregate usage data to understand demand — not tied to your identity

We only collect what's needed to run the marketplace. We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not use your phone number for marketing without your separate consent.

4. Who we share data with

  • Supabase, our database and authentication provider, stores your account data securely.
  • Paystack, a licensed Nigerian payment processor, handles the verification fee payment — Freefield never sees or stores your card details.
  • Buyers on the platform see your store name, location, and phone number when browsing listings. This is core to how Freefield works and isn't optional if you choose to list — it's how buyers reach you.

We don't share your data with anyone else, and we don't sell it.

5. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (2023), you have the right to:

  • Know what data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data — edit your profile anytime from your dashboard.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent, which means removing your listings and closing your account.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at freefield.ng@gmail.com.

6. Verification & moderation

A verification badge is issued only after a Freefield representative physically visits your store. We may suspend accounts or remove listings that are inaccurate, fraudulent, or repeatedly reported by buyers as unreliable (wrong pricing, no-show, unreachable).

7. Changes to these terms

We may update this notice as Freefield grows. Continued use of your seller account after a change means you accept the updated terms.
